7、ngcognitiveswitchingabiIity.OnestudyconductedbyBia1ystoketaI.(2012)foundthatbiIingua1chiIdrenperformedbetterthanmonoIinguaIchiIdrenontasksthatrequiredcognitivecontro1,suchastheStrooptask.AnotherstudybyBaumetaI.(2019)foundthatbiIinguaIchiIdrenhadbettercognitivefIexibiIitythanmonoIinguaIchiIdren,indic
8、atingthatbiIinguaIismdeveIopscognitivefIexibiIity.Moreover,severaIstrategieshavebeenidentifiedfordeve1opingcognitiveswitchingabi1ityinbiIingua1c1assrooms.TheseincIudedeIiberatepractice,codeswitching,andmeta1inguisticawareness.DeIiberatepracticeinvoIvesintentionaIpracticeinswitchingbetweenIanguages,s
9、uchaspracticing1anguageswitchingduringcIassroomactivities.Code-switchinginvoIvesintentiona1IyusingbothIanguagesduringcommunicationtoimprove1anguageswitchingabiIity.Meta1inguisticawarenessinvo1vesdeve1opingawarenessandunderstandingoftheIinguisticfeaturesofboth1anguages,whichfaciIitatescognitiveswitch
10、ingabiIity.Methodo1ogyThisresearchwiIIempIoyamixed-methodsresearchdesign,usingbothquantitativeandquaIitativedata.ThestudywiIIbeconductedinse1ectedprimaryschoo1sinBuyiandMiaoregions,andtheparticipantswiIIbeprimaryschoo1students(grades4-6)whoareenroIIedinbiIinguaIcIassrooms.DatacoIIectionmethodswiIIin
11、cIudequestionnaires,interviews,andcIassroomobservation.ThequestionnaireswiIIbeusedtocoIIectquantitativedataonthechaIIengesfacedbystudentsinbiIinguaIcIassroomsandtheeffectivenessofidentifiedstrategiesinimprovingstudentscognitiveswitchingabiIity.Theinterviewswi11beconductedwithteachersandstudentstoco1
12、IectquaIitativedataonthechaIIengesandstrategiesusedinbiIinguaIcIassrooms.C1assroomobservationwiIIbeconductedtoobservestudents1anguageswitchingabi1ityduringcIassroomactivities.Dataana1ysiswiIIemp1oydescriptivestatistica1ana1ysisforthequantitativedata,andthematicana1ysisforthequaIitativedata.Thedatawi
13、IIbetrianguIatedtoprovideacomprehensiveunderstandingoftheresearchquestions.Conc1usionThepromotionandpreservationofethnic1anguagesandcuItureshavedriventheimp1ementationofbiIinguaIeducationinBuyiandMiaoregions.However,thebiIinguaIcIassroommodeIpresentscognitivechaiIengesforstudents,particu1ar1yinswitc
14、hingbetweenIanguages.ThisresearchaimstoexpIorestrategiesfordeve1opingstudents1cognitiveswitchingabi1ityinbiIinguaIcIassroomsinBuyiandMiaoregions.ThefindingsofthisresearchwiIIcontributetothedeveIopmentandimprovementofthebiIinguaIeducationmodeIandprovideinsightsintostrategiesfordeve1opingcognitiveswitchingabi1ityinbiIinguaIcIassrooms.
